we're on a mission from God

From: "Rev." David Batstone
Re: Our Service to the King

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Kingdom:

I can't tell you how inspired I am by your detailed plan of action leading up to the November election. Being an evangelical pastor, I wasn't sure how I was going to mobilize my congregation to make a faithful commitment in the realm of politics. But rest assured, we are following diligently the 22 duties you so generously offered, so that God's will may be made manifest in the re-election of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for four more years.

tell me this is a satirical piece or something ... it can't be serious ... right?!?

If I hadnt heard and read so much about this political move I would think this was a mickey take. The reply reads like a fanatical extremist group.

It's apparent that worship of God has been replaced with worship of political parties.
The American church needs to come to repentance.

Um... satire, folks.

Satire, indeed. But the fact remains that many American Christians think voting Republican is the only christian thing to do. The fact that I'm seriously considering Kerry is often looked upon as an awful thing--I must be some poor weak-minded, misguided woman to think Kerry is actually an option. (And you can imagine what I think of the implication that I should listen to what my husband has to say on the issue---especially considering that I'm the one who keeps up on politics and current events in our household.)
