I've been toying with the idea of coming up with a name for the blog. It seems like the trendy thing to do. Besides, Mike Todd seems so, well, arrogant. It's been a struggle, though.
I consulted with the Blog Name Generator which suggested...
Nah. I think I'll keep trying. Feel free to provide input...
Posted by mike at May 26, 2003 12:06 PMI don't know; Succulent Widget does have a certain charm.
Posted by: Darryl on May 26, 2003 12:21 PMPerhaps if we knew what a widget is, we would know why your succulent.
However, with your love hate relationship with a certain North Shore mountain, "Grind" should definitely be part of the name. Perhaps something as simple as "The Forward Grind".
Earnest goes to church?
Posted by: robert on May 26, 2003 01:17 PMI like Robert's idea except that he uses that six letter word that you have issues with.
Why not use your initials. "eMpTy Thoughts"
Posted by: peter on May 26, 2003 01:36 PMRobert... you mean Ernest goes to church, don't you? If you're going to insult me at least get the spelling right!
Peter... that ain't bad!
There is no debate - Agent 5421.
Posted by: dan on May 26, 2003 03:03 PMCourtesy of Merriam-Webtser:
Main Entry: ear·nest
Pronunciation: '&r-n&st

Etymology: Middle English ernest, from Old English eornost; akin to Old High German ernust earnest

Alternatives include: EARNEST up the Creek, or my new personal fave: EARNEST is as EARNEST does...
Robert - sorry, my mistake. Given that Ernest Goes To Camp was your favorite movie of all time, I just assumed.
Dan - that's Agent 643, mister.
Thanks for the suggestions - keep 'em coming.
Posted by: Mike on May 26, 2003 03:28 PMHey, I like Peter's suggestion...very creative. Before that I was thinking "back to the front" - don't ask me why. I think I had an old Metallica lyric stuck in my brain.
Posted by: Steve on May 26, 2003 03:40 PMActually Ned, the greatest movie of all time is The Princess Bride...
BTW, your agent codes are lost on the RA (resident atheist).
To me, 6-4-3 is a double play. Please explain what it means to you.
The agent reference is not a religious one. Mike joined our blogger's IRC chat last week. At one stage, he couldn't change his nickname in IRC and for the course of the chat he was known as 643. Mike got to enjoying his persona and decided that he wanted to be referred to as Agent 643.
Mike proves that this was very important for his self image by actually remembering what number it was.
Posted by: dan on May 26, 2003 07:35 PMGreat - Dan's blown my cover. Now I'm going to have to eliminate every person who's ever read this.
One good thing... that shouldn't take very long.
Posted by: Mike on May 26, 2003 09:21 PMI'm the wrong person to ask, Mike - look at mine - it's so looooong... now, Dan would be best one to suggest something - her blog not only has a short and catchy name, there's a meaning behind it! lol
Posted by: irene on May 27, 2003 03:38 AMHow about "sleeves rolled up"? I think you live your faith with your "sleeves rolled up".
I know I am kind of stealing from Sally Ann but so what, it's a cool saying.
What about a variation on the "not waving, drowning" idea, Agent 643.
Posted by: dan on May 27, 2003 06:12 PMApparently the Blog Name Generator likes the word "succulent"--it proposed my new name (no, I'm not looking for one really) as Succulent Blog. BTW, "widget" is a term that used to be (maybe still is) used in economics to denote a generic unit of production, i.e.; widgets and gadgets. I know this because my nickname in college was Little Widget. (Don't ask.)
